Common Motorcycle Accident Injuries: Head Injuries

Head injuries are a common form of injury that occurs during a motorcycle accident. A significant percentage of motorcycle accidents have an initial impact point (IIP) at the front, and because motorcycles lack airbags or buffer zones like a car, injuries to the head are quite common and can be severely debilitating. For example, when a motorcyclist gets into a crash the rider may typically be thrown from their bike and fly forward, thus leaving the head (and upper body) exposed to collision.

Head injuries vary in severity, and they are often the leading cause of death in these types of accidents. Moderate traumatic brain injuries, such as concussions may result in confusion for the victim, disorientation, and cognitive impairments. More severe injuries will result in loss of brain function, coma, or even death.
